Hoy estaba leyendo prensa por la red y me ha llamado mucho la atención un artículo de Iñaki Laguardia, un periodista freelance especializado en cultura y tendencias, que hablaba sobre la tendencia al alza de la venta de muñecas negras que hace unos años introdujo en el mercado el empresario nigeriano Taofick Okoya. Al parecer este visionario empresario decidió crear la versión de la "barbie negra" porque un dia quiso hacer un regalo a su sobrina y se encontró con que era muy difícil o casi imposible encontrar en el mercado muñecas negras. Y de esta necesidad nacieron Queen of Africa Dolls (Las Muñecas Reina de Africa). La gran empresa juguetera que creó Okoya se llama Fico Solutions Nigeria LTD y  comercializa  libros, cuentos, muñecas, comics y programas educativos. "La facturación de esta empresa supone el 15% de la industria especializada del país". 

Estas muñecas han tenido una muy buena acogida no sólo en Nigeria sino también fuera de Africa en países como "E.E.U.U, Brasil, Costa de Marfil, Sudáfrica y algunos países europeos".

Today I was reading the on-line press and one article  really "got the cake", it was written by Iñaki Laguardia, a freelance reporter specialized in culture and trends, and it was relating the upward increases of incomes in the market of the selling of "black dolls" that  have been placed in the market for the Nigerian entrepreneur Taofick Okoya. Apparently this visionary businessman decided to  create the "black barbie" because one day he decided to make a present to his nephew and he realized that it was hard or almost impossible to find black dolls. From this necessity is how the Queen of Africa Dolls was born. Okaya´s  toyshop Emporio is called Solutions Nigeria LTD and commercializes books, tales, dolls, comics and educational programs. The invoicing of this enterprise represent the 15% of the skilled industry in the Nigerian country.

This queen dolls have been very welcomed not just in Nigeria but also in other countries such as "U.S.A, Brazil, Ivory Coast, South Africa and other European countries".

El creador de las "reinas negras" comentó en una entrevista que su empresa tiene una responsabilidad social y que su objetivo es "promover una idea positiva de la identidad africana y ayudar a que las niñas afiancen sus sentimientos de "autoconfianza y resiliencia".

The creator of the African Queen Dolls discussed recently in an interview about the social responsibility of his company and he added that his main objective is " to promote a positive image of the African identity and to  help little girls to feel self- confident and resilient". 

Poco a poco parece que el mundo va evolucionando y las personas empiezan a darse cuenta de la necesidad de educar a los niños con valores multiculturales. Porque los niños como dice Okoya " son muy vulnerables a los estímulos subliminales que les lanza la sociedad". Hay una obligación por parte de todos los adultos de proteger a los niños de esos mensajes negativos que  envían los medios de comunicación masiva. Los niños son nuestro futuro y esperanza.

Step by step it seems like the world is evolving and people are perceiving the need to educate their kids in multicultural values. Because as Okoya says "children are very vulnerable to the subliminal stimulus that are projected by the society". It is a must to protect our little ones from those negatives messages sent by the media. The children are our future and hope.
