AFRO PELÍCULAS NOMINADAS A LOS PREMIOS OSCAR 2015 / AFRO MOVIES NOMINATED TO THE OSCARS 2015

Ha sido para mi una alegría ver que este año dos películas de temáticas afro han sido nominadas a los Premios Oscar 2015:

I´m glad to see that this year two movies related to afro themes have been nominated to the Oscars 2015:





TIMBUKTU (ABDERRAHMANE SISSAKO)

La película está basada en hechos reales y la historia aquí relatada ocurre en Mali (en Tumbuctú) donde en el año 2012 una joven pareja murió dilapidada a manos de unos islamistas radicales que les condenaron por no estar casados y vivir juntos, cosa que estos extremistas consideraban que iba contra las leyes divinas. "Dirigida por el mauritano Abderrahmane Sissako, uno de los directores africanos con mayor proyección internacional, Timbuktu (Mauritania/Francia) ha logrado una nominación a los Premios Oscar a la mejor película de habla no inglesa y ocho nominaciones a los Premios César" (comentario del blog de la Casa África: blog.africavive.es).

The movie is based on a true story that happened in Mali (Timbuktu) where in 2012 a young couple were condemned and  stoned to death by some  radical Islamists that considered that the fact of a couple living together without being married was against the divine laws."Timbuktu directed by Abderrahmane Sissako, one of the African directors with international repercussion, has accomplished one nomination to the Oscars in  the category of best on-English speaking movie and eight nominations to the Ceasar Prizes" (comment extracted from Casa Africa´s blog: blog.africavive.es).




SELMA (AVA DU VERNAY)






Esta es una magnífica película histórica que uno no debería perderse porque habla sobre la pacífica lucha de Martin Luther King por los derechos civiles de los afroamericanos y la igualdad. Como bien comenta Luis Vincent Cassel Rodríguez: "Con un guión inteligente, una impresionante fotografía, un montaje conciso y unas elegantes interpretaciones, la película representa un raro ejemplo de artesanía para reflejar una pieza de la historia profundamente conmovedora.........'Selma' es una de las mejores películas norteamericanas del año, de hecho tal vez la mejor. David Oyelowo esta electrizante como Martin Luther King Jr. en la furiosa, valiente y demasiado oportuna narración de Ava DuVernay sobre la lucha de la America negra por los derechos civiles"

This is an excellent historical movie that you should not miss because it talks about the pacific fight that Martin Luther King did lead in the fight for the civil rights and the equality of the Afro-American. As Luis Vincent  Cassel Rodríguez correctly says :" With an intelligent script, an amazing photography, a concise set-up and elegant interpretations, the movie represents an uncommon  example of craft-work that mirrors a moment  deeply overwhelming of the history... Selma is one of the best American movies of the year, and probably the best. David Oyelowo is electrifying in his roll of Martin Luther King Jr. in the furious, brave and very convenient narration of Ava Duvernay about the struggle of the black America for the civil rights".


Estas dos obras de arte cinematográficas de denuncia social son una muestra de que el arte es una de las mejores herramientas para transmitir valores humanos y despertar nuestra consciencia. Espero de corazón que los Oscar les hagan  un poco de justicia a estas películas y que se lleven  a casa los premios que se merecen. "Tal vez diréis que soy una soñadora pero no soy la única".

This two cinematographic work of art  that are about social denounces prove that art is a great tool to communicate human values and to awake our consciousness. I hope wholeheartedly that the Oscar will make  some justice to this movies by giving them the prizes that they deserve. "You may say I´m dreamer, but I´m not the only one".
